Rating Summary
METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2 is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood, Crude Humor, Drug Reference, Strong Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. Also includes In-Game Purchases. This is a collection of stealth action games in which players assume the role of an elite soldier through counter-terrorist and military missions. Players complete mission objectives and infiltrate various areas, using pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, and explosives to kill soldiers; players can also use a tranquilizer gun and hand-to-hand takedowns (e.g., sleeper holds, knockouts) to incapacitate enemies discreetly. Enemies emit blood-splatter when shot and killed. Players have the ability to shoot and kill civilians in the battlefield, though these actions are not encouraged. Some black-and-white comic book-style cutscenes depict instances of torture (e.g., electric rods used to shock a prisoner). The game contains suggestive material: Playboy magazines placed on the ground to distract soldiers (no nudity depicted); camera angles that focus on characters' buttocks and partially exposed breasts; taking pictures of female characters in bikinis/underwear; a character touching another woman's breasts (clothed); rustling motions and moaning sounds inside a cardboard box. Some sequences contain instances of bathroom humor: a character caught with his pants down (partially exposed buttocks) while defecating inside a barrel (not depicted); the prolonged scene is accompanied by flatulence sounds. One storyline contains references to drug operations and cocaine. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” are heard in the game.
