Warlock: Master of the Arcane

This is a turn-based strategy game in which players attempt to build the mightiest kingdom in the fantasy land of Ardania. From a top-down perspective, players manage resources (e.g., gold, food, mana), develop territories, and engage in grid-based combat against fantasy creatures (e.g., elves, dwarves, ogres). Characters use swords, bows and arrows, and magic spells to attack opposing units; combat includes battle cries, sword-clanging sounds, and a loss of hit points as defeated characters disappear from the screen. In one sequence, a floating sword—used by vampire characters—depicts blood droplets on its blade. During the course of the game, a handful of alcohol references appear on screen (e.g., “It is recommended to guzzle 10 liters of ale during the performance” and “Only second . . . is their prowess in drinking and fighting.”).
