Armatus is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood and Violence. This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a supernatural warrior searching for a lost gateway to heaven. Players explore a ruined city while engaging in combat against various demons. Players use assault rifles, shotguns, rifles, and celestial powers (e.g., slow time, freeze enemies briefly) to kill enemies. Combat is fast-paced, accompanied by realistic gunfire and blood-splatter effects. Players can perform finishing attacks on bosses, resulting in close-up cutscenes of attacks and blood-splatter effects. One cutscene depicts a man getting symbols ritualistically cut onto his torso.
