Rating Summary
SOMA is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Nudity, Strong Language, and Violence. This is a first-person survival-horror game in which players assume the role of Simon Jarrett, a researcher exploring an abandoned underwater facility. As players solve puzzles, search for clues, and read materials, they must also evade mutated creatures and a malevolent AI. Several scenes depict bloodied or mutilated corpses, many with missing heads or burned flesh. One scene depicts a character inserting his hand/arm into an alien orifice (to “feed” it), then pulling out a mutilated stump. Some mutant creatures are seen nude, with exposed breasts and/or genitalia. The word “f**k” appears in the game.
