Rating Summary
Ratatan is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB with Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, and Mild Language. Also includes In-Game Purchases. This is a rhythm-based action game in which players help creatures called Ratatan embark on a journey across a fantasy world. From a 2D side-scrolling perspective, players use rhythm-based commands in time with music to send armed servants (Cobun) to battle against enemy creatures and bosses. Players use small scythes, swords, and spears to defeat stylized enemies in melee-style combat; battles are accompanied by impact sounds, large explosions, light effects, and text encouragement/violent references (e.g., "We'll beat your butt"; "Murder"; "Attack"; "Smash 'em"' "let's use it for a spot of violence"). The text sometimes includes the phrase "but we got plenty o' bourbon!” The words “damn” and “hell” also appear in the game.
