This is a real-time strategy game in which players lead a fictional medieval empire to prominence. From a top-down perspective, players expand their territory by gathering resources, building infrastructure, and commanding military units (e.g., infantry, cavalry) to battle enemies (e.g., barbarian tribes, other empires). Battle sequences usually occur on open fields/grid-based battle arenas, as small soldiers/leaders are depicted fighting with swords, spears, bows, and magic spells. Battles are highlighted by impact sounds, cries of pain, and mild explosions.
