The 9th Charnel is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language. This is a first-person survival horror game in which players assume the role of a man trying to avoid a mysterious cult after a car crash. Players are sometimes chased and attacked by monsters; some sequences allow players to use pistols or shotguns to shoot and kill enemies. Several scenes depict characters tortured, impaled, or mutilated: a dismembered human torso impaled to a wall, with large blood stains behind it; flayed corpses in a bathroom; characters impaled; dismembered limbs hanging from ceilings; bodies hanging from trees; a character being burned alive. The word “f**k” appears in the game.
