Rating Summary
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, and Suggestive Themes. This is a collection of fighting games and an interactive documentary from the Mortal Kombat universe. Players compete in one-on-one fights featuring a wide cast of characters over several storylines (e.g., tournaments, rivalries, saving the world). Characters mostly punch and kick each other in attempts to drain opponents' health meters, while also performing dramatic finishing moves (i.e., Fatalities). Characters use weapons such as bladed hats/fans, throwing stars/kunai, and firearms; a handful of characters use elemental/magic attacks (e.g., lightning, fire, ice). Finishing moves depict over-the-top instances of violence: decapitation/dismemberment, impalement, execution-style gunshots to the head, blades slicing bodies in half—blood-splatter and gore effects appear during Fatalities. Some cutscenes also depict severed heads/limbs and mutilated corpses. Some female characters are designed with revealing outfits (e.g., low-cut tops, deep cleavage, thong-like bottoms). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in documentary footage.
