HOTEL BARCELONA is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Use of Drugs, and Violence. Also includes Users Interact. This is an action game in which players assume the role of a U.S. Marshal that finds herself trapped inside a mysterious hotel. From a 2D side-scrolling perspective, players traverse hotel grounds and engage in melee-style combat against enemies (e.g., cultists, demonic creatures, mutated bosses). Players use axes, knives, and spinning saw blades to dismember and decapitate small enemies; players can also use pistols and shotguns to attack enemies. Large blood-splatter effects and flying body parts highlight the combat. A handful of stylized cutscenes depict partially nude female figures, with exposed buttocks and breasts. One brief sequence depicts a woman sprinkling white powder (presumably drugs), over her chest, and a man snorting the powder off her. The word “f**k” appears in the game.
