Rating Summary
The Stone of Madness is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, and Violence. This is a strategy game in which players help characters escape from an Inquisition-era monastery housing the mentally ill. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players solve puzzles, search for items, interact with characters, and use stealth to evade guards. Guards are sometimes seen clubbing inmates, and one playable character can knock out or shoot enemies. Some scenes show inmate corpses strapped to tables in labs; one cutscene depicts a character engaging in self-harm (i.e., jumping from a great height). Blood/gore is present in the game, though it is somewhat stylized: blood stains under corpses; brain matter oozing from a character's skull. One cutscene depicts a man on top of a woman in a haystack, implying sexual activity (The couple appear to be caught in the act; dialogue states, "Something was moving among the piles of straw..."). An intro cutscene depicts stylized figures with exposed buttocks in the background. The word “bastard” appears in the game.
