Rating Summary
Trials of the Blood Dragon is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Use of Drugs. This is an action-racing game in which players ride a motorcycle through themed obstacle courses on a mission to stop a villain. Players jump over gaps, avoid hazards, and perform stunts as they complete mission objectives. Some mission levels involve the rider using machine guns to shoot gates and enemy soldiers. Other sequences require players to traverse levels while shooting human soldiers and enemy creatures (e.g., giant eyeballs). Blood-splatter effects occur as enemies are killed; large pools of pinkish blood appear in some areas. Animated sequences depict additional acts of violence and blood: an infected soldier shot through the chest, resulting in pink blood splatter; dead bodies lying in pools of pinkish blood. In one level, red-light district signage can be seen (e.g., “XXX”), along with an area depicting a dancing pole. The game includes several references to drugs and fantasy drugs (e.g., “Inhaling that much TurboCrank—our brain should have like fried eggs”; “drug traffickers”; “...hoover up that much of the drug and get down funkier than a cat at a Pink Flyod laser show”); one prolonged sequence depicts a character described as "tripping," with accompanying psychedelic colors and screen-distortion effects. The word “sh*t” is heard in the game.
