Rating Summary
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB with Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Use of Alcohol. This is a role-playing game in which players control heroes on a quest to restore lands destroyed by a villain. From a ¾-overhead perspective, players explore a medieval world, interact with characters, and battle fantastical enemies (e.g., slime, zombies) in turn-based combat. Players select attacks from a menu, using swords, spears, and magic to attack enemies. Battles are accompanied by light effects, small explosions, and cries of pain. One enemy (Bloody Hand) is depicted as a small hand covered in dripping red liquid. Some dialogue references suggestive material (e.g., “He likes to dress up like a street tough and chase the maids around…”; “If Lavender and Carraway can have their carry-on, why can't we?”); some female characters are designed in slightly revealing bunny suits. During the course of the game, townsfolk are sometimes depicted or described as drunk (e.g., “That there soldier may be drunk as a skunk..."; “Drinking grog all day is fine”; “Hic…I fear I've rather—Hic!—overdone it!”). Bathroom humor also occurs in the game: references to manure; vomit sounds; urine jokes (e.g.,"Phew! I made it to the wall just in time!"). The words “damn” and “hell” appear in the game.
