Rating Summary
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Language, Partial Nudity, and Violence. This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a soldier trying to stop the outbreak of a dangerous infection aboard his ship. Players use pistols, shotguns, machine guns, and laser swords to kill various enemies (e.g., mutants, security robots). Combat is highlighted by realistic gunfire, cries of pain, and brief blood-splatter effects. One ghost-like memory depicts a character shooting themselves in the head. Some enemies are depicted with exposed brains and viscera; environments contain large bloodstains and corpses, some of which are decapitated or with body parts strewn nearby. A gallery of concept art depicts partially nude characters (e.g., topless cyborg enemy). The word “sh*t” appears in the game.
