Open Roads

This is a narrative adventure game in which players assume the role of a teenager on a road trip with her mother. From a first-person perspective, players explore abandoned family properties, discover secrets, and make dialogue choices that determine the course of the story. Among dozens of items that players can interact with, one item is a plate with blood on it, accompanied by dialogue (e.g., “Is that…dried…blood?! Ew!”). Some game items contain mildly suggestive material: a magazine ("Gentleman") depicting a shirtless woman from behind; a photograph of a woman in a negligée; dialogue such as "...[C]oming home early...I caught them in the act”; “Like doing Curt?”). The dialogue contains references to alcohol and tobacco (e.g., “I'm going out for a smoke”; “Wow, that is…a lot to spend on whiskey”; “With this amount of booze, it doesn't look like he was handling anything too well.”); players can also interact with alcohol- and tobacco-related items throughout the environment (e.g., stout and whiskey bottles, cigarette packs, cigarettes in ash trays). The word “sh*t” appears in the game.
