Risk of Rain Returns

Risk of Rain Returns is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Drug Reference, Fantasy Violence, and Mild Blood. Also includes Users Interact. This is a side-scrolling platformer game in which players assume the role of a crash survivor on an alien planet. Players traverse 2D environments while using tools and weapons (e.g., hammers, swords, blasters) to defeat small enemies (e.g., aliens, robots, bosses). Battles are accompanied by explosions, impact sounds, and screen-shaking effects. Enemies sometimes explode into small, red particles when defeated; still images can depict blood-like stains near alien corpses and on walls. During the course of the game, players can acquire a syringe that references drugs (e.g., “Contains vaccinations, antibiotics, pain killers, steroids, heroin, gasoline...very few men have actually died from overdosing from it”).
