Rating Summary
Total War: PHARAOH is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Alcohol Reference, Mild Language, and Violence. This is a real-time strategy game in which players battle to become the next Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. From an overhead perspective, players deploy military units (e.g., infantry, archers, chariots) across battlefields to eliminate rival armies and destroy enemy cities/strongholds. Players can zoom in on battles and view soldiers engaging in close-up combat. Battles depict sword fighting, soldiers collapsing to the ground, characters impaled by swords, and soldiers crying out in pain. During the course of the game, players can erect wineries to gain economic and production benefits; the game text also references alcohol (e.g., “Wherever the wine flows like water, a happy people will be found”; "...[T]hey neglected to mention how good their beer is – a rarer commodity, but just as intoxicating.”). The word “bastard” appears in the game.
