Severed is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, and Violence. This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of a warrior journeying through a fantasy world to find her family. From a first-person perspective, players explore maze-like environments while battling stylized creatures and monsters. Players use a touch-based combat system to slash and slice down enemies. Combat is accompanied by impact sounds, screen-shaking effects, and large splashes of blood. As players attack enemies, they can build up a focus meter that allows them to sever/dismember enemy creatures' body parts. Additional sequences depict instance of blood/gore: players' character getting her arm severed; a woman standing in front of a mirror, with blood dripping from her severed limb; a dragon with a dangling eyeball.
