Deadly Premonition 2 is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Use of Drugs, and Violence. This is an adventure game in which players assume the roles of two FBI agents investigating a series of murders. From a third-person perspective, players explore crime scenes, interview figures/suspects, and battle fantastical enemies (e.g., demons, boss creatures). Players can use melee attacks (i.e., punching, kicking) and pistols to kill enemies. Crime scenes and visions/re-enactments include depictions of blood and gore: a dismembered corpse encased in a block of ice; a woman's severed limbs in pools of blood. One scene depicts a woman holding an axe above a victim—screaming and impact sounds are heard. During the course of the game, a character can be seen smoking a marijuana cigarette.
