Red Faction

Red Faction is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Violence. This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a rebel miner battling against an oppressive corporation in a Martian colony. Players use futuristic pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, and rail guns to shoot and kill corporate guards and their robotic sentries. Battles are frenetic, accompanied by realistic gunfire, explosions, and cries of pain. Blood-splatter effects occur when enemies are hit; large blood stains can be seen on floors, walls, and pooling underneath corpses. Players have the ability to shoot corpses (i.e., post-mortem damage), resulting in more blood-splatter effects. The game allows players to kill civilians—though the act is not encouraged—which often leads to a Game Over screen; in one sequence, players can shoot bed-ridden characters in the head.
