Rating Summary
This is a noir-style adventure game in which players assume the role of John Blacksad, an anthropomorphic private cat detective investigating the disappearance of a young boxer. As players progress through the story, they are presented with dialogue and action choices. Some choices can to lead to instances of death and/or depictions of intense violence against other anthropomorphic characters: a cat's throat slit while sitting in a chair; defenseless characters (e.g., dogs, eagles) executed at close-range; a father and daughter burned alive inside an enclosed room. Blood is frequently depicted during these sequences, staining characters' bodies and splattering on the surrounding environments. The game contains some sexual material: a reference to prostitution in dialogue (e.g., “Same ol' same ol' with several mistresses, so I decided to stick to my guns and only deal with hookers…”; “Now what if that lovely twelve-year-old girl was your sweet little niece…And what if she'd been taken to work uptown…in a brothel?”); a photograph of two clothed characters (i.e., animals) engaged in sexual behavior. The word “f**k" appears in the game.
