Rating Summary
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is rated M for Mature 17+ by the ESRB with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs. This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of a man (Javier Garcia) trying to keep his family alive during a zombie outbreak. As players progress through the story, they are presented with dialogue and action choices. These selections can sometimes lead to the death of characters and depictions of intense violence: a bound man executed with a gunshot to the head; a young girl shot in the face; a man repeatedly beaten over the head with a baseball bat. In some sequences, players have the option to shoot and kill zombies and other human survivors. Large blood-splatter effects occur frequently as characters are injured and killed. Some areas also depict mutilated zombie corpses with exposed organs/viscera; one scene depicts the exposed brains and head cavity of a character that was beaten to death. During one sequence, characters can be seen smoking a marijuana cigarette. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” are heard in the dialogue.
