Rating Summary
This is a visual novel in which players assume the role of an heiress (Emily Whiteley) studying to be a detective in Victorian London. As players progress through the story, they can investigate crimes and interact with different characters. Some interactions lead to still-frame depictions of violence: victims being slashed with knives, accompanied by descriptive detail (e.g., “...the blade hacking into her with mad elegance to cut through her stubborn flesh and spine” and “...her throat was twice spread open. From left to right her skin was slit.”). A handful of sequences depict large bloodstains on characters' bodies and on the ground. The game also contains sexual material: text/dialogue that reads, “A life of prostitution meant that her hours were subject to the needs of her clients,” and “We live in a place…with…whores who drink their mind rotten, play loose to f**k strangers…”; couples kissing while in bed, and a naked couple embracing (no discernible details shown). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the game.
