Rating Summary
Child of Light & Valiant Hearts: The Great War is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood, Use of Alcohol and Tobacco, and Violence. This is a collection of two side-scrolling adventure games, in which players follow a young girl through a fantasy world and help soldiers on the frontlines of WWI. As the young girl, players use magic and swords to battle fantastical creatures (e.g., giants, ghosts, stone statues) in turn-based combat. As the soldiers, players must solve puzzles to traverse the environment and progress the storyline. Some sequences depict soldiers getting shot and killed by enemy fire; one character is executed for treason, off screen. Battlefields depict dead soldiers lying in large pools of blood. Both games contain a handful of sequences involving drunk characters (e.g., birds drinking from bottles, hiccupping; soldiers drinking from frothy beer mugs); some characters are also shown smoking tobacco pipes.
