Rating Summary
This is an adventure game in which Sherlock Holmes must exonerate himself from a crime he didn't commit. Players collect clues, question witnesses, and pursue leads to maintain Holmes's innocence and advance the storyline. During the course of the game, players may come across crime scenes in which badly beaten or mutilated corpses are subject to investigation; players can examine victims' bodies up close, surveying bruises and bloody cuts for evidence (e.g., using a scalpel or forceps to manipulate open wounds). These sequences often depict blood splatter on nearby objects and/or the surrounding environment—some characters exhibit mangled limbs or exposed entrails. In one cutscene (partially in slow motion), a man shoots himself in the head with a pistol. During the course of the game, players can explore an opium den that depicts men passed out amid drug paraphernalia (e.g., burners, smoking pipes that “smell strange,” and “small balls of opium”).
