Rating Summary
Port Royale 3: Pirates & Merchants is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Alcohol and Tobacco Reference, Mild Blood, Mild Language, and Mild Violence. In this strategy game, players create merchant or pirate empires by managing the economic and industrial growth between 17th-century Caribbean cities. Players can expand their territory and influence by interacting with other merchants, establishing trade routes, and engaging in naval/land conflicts. Battles are depicted from an overhead perspective, and are accentuated by realistic canon fire and mild explosions. Sailors are occasionally depicted falling overboard; these characters can be eaten by sharks, resulting in pools of red blood. During the course of the game, players may trade/produce tobacco and rum (e.g., “We need this sugar in Port Royale for rum” and “People are willing to pay a fair price for rum.”). The words “damn” and “b*tch” appear in the dialogue.
