This is a seek-and-find mystery game in which players attempt to resolve the theories behind the death of the famous American writer Edgar Allan Poe. Players must progress through three of Poe's famous works to collect clues about what happened to the writer in real life, thus solving the mystery through Poe's own words. Corpses and wounded/unconscious figures are depicted in some scenes; another scene depicts a man threatening two figures with a gun (shots heard off-screen). The frequency of discussions regarding murder contributes to the age rating for this game: "When we pulled her out of the river, I saw the bruises around her neck. She was strangled by someone strong"; "A gang would have lifted the body over the fence and there would be no need to drag"; and "She was dead before she was thrown in the water." Some dialogue also contains suggestive references that are central to the plot (e.g., "I think she had interests in more than just her boyfriend" and "Did Marie have a secret passion for sailing and sailors?").
