Rating Summary
The Baconing is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Blood, Cartoon Violence, Crude Humor, Mild Language, Mild Sexual Themes, and Tobacco Reference. This is an action-adventure role-playing game in which players assume the role of a hero (DeathSpank) on a quest to save his world from a new evil. Along the way, players can solve puzzles, complete whimsical quests, interact with townspeople, and battle an assortment of monsters. Players use axes, swords, crossbows, and knives to hack and slash “cartoony” enemies (e.g., aliens, robots, chickens). Splashes of blood appear when characters are hit, sometimes leaving stains on the ground. One quest requires players to collect “foulest dung” in order to pollute a character's fountain. Another mission involves obtaining “tobaccy” for a character (e.g., “I can even chew tobaccy again. Though it's gonna make me spit somethin' fierce.”). In one sequence, players enter a “Pleasuretorium” to complete a mission (e.g., “Here is the tobaccy as requested, pimpette” and “Greetings, Brothel Mistress."); players may also be tasked with disarming several “pleasure bots” in this environment. The words “damn” and “hell” can be heard in dialogue.
