Rating Summary
Defenders of Ardania is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes, and Partial Nudity. This is a tower defense/strategy game in which players must protect their castle while attempting to destroy opponents' bases. From a top-down perspective, players erect towers with weapons and send troops along grid-like paths to destroy waves of human-like enemies (e.g., soldiers, elves, zombies). Opposing troops use spears, hammers, and magical spells to attack players' forces. Enemies frequently catch on fire or collapse on the battlefield from attacks; cries of pain and frequent explosions occur during the frenetic battle. Some sequences contain darker undertones and references to violence (e.g., “I shall cut out your hideous heart” and “[T]he only men who knew the tale were brutally savaged and eaten”). During the course of the game, a still-frame image depicts two elven women kissing behind a clear shower curtain; portions of their breasts and buttocks are exposed. Some text in the game references alcohol and drunkenness (e.g., “Please accept this cup of fine dwarven liquor,” “They stumble . . . like a drunken goblin,” and “Perhaps there was a bit too much dwarven beer”). The words “bastard,” “damn,” and “hell” appear in the dialogue.
