This is an action game in which players assume the role of a shadow-puppet ninja who must collect scrolls to rescue a kidnapped princess. As players run and jump through each side-scrolling level, they must avoid scattered hazards (e.g., spikes, saw blades), animal-like creatures, and roaming ninjas. Enemies generally disappear amid stylized puffs of smoke when defeated. When players' character is defeated, red blood briefly spurts from its body. The game contains a brief suggestive reference about a geisha character: "Sexual charm tries my patience! But it's not going to turn me on because I'm so crazy about [the princess]!"
