Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB with Alcohol Reference, Mild Blood, Use of Tobacco, and Violent References. This is a hidden-object game (i.e., seek-and-find) in which players follow the story of a young woman searching an asylum for answers about her family. Players solve puzzles and gather specific items among scenes of jumbled objects, sometimes using these items as tools to complete tasks. Some sequences contain dark undertones and references to violence (e.g., "He's after me. He . . . he does terrible things," the newspaper headline "Entire family declared dead"): one scene contains background images of small body parts encased in jars; other scenes depict red stains on objects (i.e., handprints on a toy chest, small blood stains on a piano). A gallery of sketches depicts a man exhaling smoke while holding a cigarette; another sequence includes a beer bottle as a searchable item.
