This is an action-adventure game in which players control an immortal executioner who must stop a band of witches from destroying the human race. Players use a large scythe to engage in hack-and-slash combat with a variety of enemies (e.g., zombies, snakes, spiders, giant wolves); Witchcraft weapons (often resembling machine guns and rocket launchers) can also be used during the frenetic melee-style combat. Battle sequences are accompanied by metallic clanging sounds, cries of pain, and frequent blood-splatter effects. Players' finishing moves represent the most intense acts of violence: a large monster is decapitated (in slow motion) by a guillotine; an enemy is sliced in half from head to abdomen. During the course of the game, players can activate a special attack (Witch's Embrace) that briefly depicts a female giant defeating smaller characters; the blue giant is topless and sometimes exposes her buttocks. Language such as "sh*t" and "bastard" can be heard in the dialogue.
