Rating Summary

This is a seek-and-find mystery game, set during the 1920s Prohibition Era, in which players follow Valerie Porter, a rookie journalist uncovering the mystery behind the death of a famous actress. The game depicts the actress's death in an introductory still-image cutscene: Amid her screams and the fade to black, a distinct squishing sound can be heard. For the rest of the game, players interview suspects and search for clues/items among scenes of jumbled objects to uncover the identity of the killer. One of the many puzzles involves assembling pieces of bloody newspaper in an effort to read the story and find more clues. Players can enter a "jin joint" (i.e., a speakeasy) during part of the storyline or examine a whisky bottle ("John Daddy's Whisky") close-up in the seek-and-find portion. One character is repeatedly shown holding a lit cigar.
