Rating Summary
In this strategy game, players control the legendary infantry unit Big Red One in battles during World War II. Action takes place on a small grid-like board full of hexagonal spaces, soldiers, buildings, and trees. In other words, gameplay consists of placement and strategy rather than real-time "running-and-gunning." From a 3/4-overhead perspective, players can occupy enemy positions, capture enemy officers, and use weapons (e.g., grenades, pistols, bombs, and artillery) to defeat units and destroy vehicles. Gunfire sounds are somewhat realistic; soldiers moan "Ahhhh!" (it's oddly nonchalant-sounding) when shot.
