This is an action-platformer game set in a colorful fantasy world where music does rule—mostly heavy metal. Players control a small guitar-wielding musician who must rid the world of "Hairbanger" minions that are vandalizing it, making things difficult for all of us. As players hop across platforms and avoid hazards (spiked pits, flaming notes, lava, etc.), they can shoot musical waves from their guitar to defeat enemies. Players can also command a toy helicopter to shoot pellets at enemy "hairballs." Enemies usually disappear in a puff of smoke or confetti-like particles. Boss battles are more intense and may depict small explosions and screen-shaking; for example, a Drummer boss smashes crash cymbals and drops them onto the hero, causing red flashes and much rumble. One spirited metal song includes the word hell and other vivid imagery (e.g., "Rule this world of crying blood . . . Even in hell we have angels").
