Rating Summary

In this action role-playing game, players control Luis, a hero on a quest to stop an evil force from threatening the kingdom of Exidia. Players roam through villages, forests, cities, and castles, performing a variety of quests. Some quests involve combat, which is depicted from a slightly overhead perspective: Players use magic (e.g., lighting from fireballs), swords, axes, and small scythes to defeat an assortment of fantastical and spritely creatures (e.g., slime monsters, giant spiders, orcs, dragons). The loud clashing and swiping sounds have some impact; the visual depictions of battle are less intense—small explosions and colorful lights surface on enemy sprites that often stand in place. The boss battles represent the most pertinent aspect of violence: One brief sequence depicts the hero chopping off a dragon's wing; the dragon's head also comes off, revealing a spot of red. Although this might technically be considered "dismemberment" or "decapitation," the minimized graphics, along with the rudimentary art-style and unrealistic depictions serve to lessen the impact—the Animated Blood descriptor addresses this "low-impact-gore" concept. Along the journey, players may encounter a half-spider/half-woman character who wears a low halter top that exposes deep cleavage; a couple of female characters wear mildly revealing outfits as well.
