This is a "point-and-click" adventure game in which players assume the role of an FBI agent trying to solve a series of mysterious murders. Players conduct their investigation of a serial killer by finding and analyzing evidence, interviewing suspects, and solving puzzles. During the course of the investigation, violent acts are sometimes depicted on screen: a woman shoots a man in the shoulder; a building explodes from a bomb; characters threaten each other with guns. In addition to these depictions of violence, characters frequently discuss the game's main subject matter—murder (e.g., "I helped him to kill eight people," "He would often slap her or twist her arms," and "He was strangled by a rope tightened by the turning clockwise method."). Characters also discuss sexual matters; the following dialogue contributes to the Sexual Themes descriptor: "Ninety-nine, sentenced for rape attempt," "I'll send the sheriff to New Orleans to get some h*okers," and "A guy who barely avoided the fate of a sex doll." A few conversations revolve around whiskey and beer (e.g., "You'll get me the beer when you've given me the tokens"), and profanity (e.g., "sh*t" and "a*shole") does make an appearance in text.
