This is an action adventure game in which players control the character Zak Saturday and the Saturday Family in their quest to discover and protect mysterious creatures known as Cryptids. Players solve simple puzzles, navigate through side-scrolling environments, and engage in hand-to-hand or ranged combat using a variety of weapons (fire swords, power gloves, rocket launchers, etc.). Players frequently punch and kick fantastical enemies (e.g., giant serpents and slugs) and henchmen that attack with swords or guns. Enemies react to damage by making a slight grunting noise; there is a louder cry when a character dies.
