This is a puzzle/adventure game, based on the TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, in which players solve murder cases by combing crime scenes, processing evidence in a lab, and interviewing multiple suspects. Forensics-based mini-games include DNA analysis, fingerprint and medical database searches, microscopic comparison, and chemical analysis. Victims' deaths are depicted through cutscenes and are examined in detail. Death scenes include the stabbing of a woman with a shard of glass through the neck; a character dying from forced alcohol consumption/poisoning; and a man straggled to death with a microphone cord. Evidence can sometimes include the examination of large blood stains on bed sheets and pools of blood near dead bodies. During the course of the investigations, characters make references to sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis), same-sex prostitution (e.g., "married men . . . secretly soliciting sex from male prostitutes") and other sexual relations (e.g., "[W]e had sex pretty much every day this week, but she was a married woman"). Cocaine and the "date rape" drug Flunitrazepam (i.e. "roofies") are also mentioned in dialogue.
