Rating Summary

This is an action-fighting game in which players compete against a variety of enemies in gladiator-style arena combat. Viewed from a first-person perspective, players use a mace, shield, or magic to attack fantasy monsters (e.g., orcs, medusas, minotaurs) and humans (e.g. ninjas, martial arts masters); opponents fight back with hammers, swords, clubs, fire and magic in these close-up gladiator duels. The immediate goal is to deplete the opponent's life meter, as players learn to exploit the weakness of each enemy. Sound effects include constant punching-slaps, moans/groans, and metallic clangs from swords and spears. A blood effect is depicted in the form of red slashes, claw marks, and 2D blots that appear on the screen; most of these slash/blot/claw marks are accompanied by wet flesh-impact sounds. One character named Tagon is described as having "a few too many to drink" and has agreed to fight in the arena "in exchange for some top-shelf mead"; before a duel, Tagon exclaims heartily, "So you're the twerp I need to bash to get me some more mead!"
