Phantasy Star

This is a 2D role-playing game (RPG) in which players guide a group of characters through towns and dungeon environments in an attempt to defeat an evil dictator. Players engage in turn-based combat with dragons, ghouls, giants, and magicians by using an assortment of fantastical weapons (glowing daggers, crossbows, magic spells, etc.). Enemies react to damage by crying out in pain, while light effects and numeric values also indicate damage inflicted. In one cutscene, a boy is depicted lying on the ground with small red stains over his body; it is implied that he was attacked by guards.
