The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft is an adventure game in which players assume the role of the young detectives known as the Hardy boys. Players investigate events surrounding a theft and a murder by interviewing suspects and examining evidence. During the course of the investigation, players can be involved in high-speed car chases and other perilous situations, shown in comic book paneled cutscenes. A man's murder is discussed with the culprit; a man is also seen dying in a hospital bed. One piece of evidence is a strip of fabric with small red marks on its surface indicating blood.
