Oval Office is a political simulation game in which players assume the role of President of the United States of America. Players must deal with various social, economic, and political issues, while running the government and seeking a second term. Some of the more controversial issues that are discussed include welfare reform, same-sex marriage, terrorism, and the legalization of drugs (marijuana and heroin) and/or prostitution. Players are prompted to adopt a policy stance on each issue by evaluating the conservative and liberal approaches to each subject. Assassination attempts can occur – depicted only in text – if the players' administration becomes hugely unpopular, while 'improper relationships' can also bring scandal and lower approval ratings.
