Gradius II is a side-scrolling space shooter in which players navigate a small ship through different levels. Players engage a swarm of enemy objects and creatures in constant combat, accumulating points for every ship/target destroyed. Enemy objects (and the player ship) flash red when hit, then quickly disappear.
