American McGee's Grimm: Little Red Riding Hood is an action game in which players assume the role of Grimm, a dwarf who retells the classic fairy tale, "Little Red Riding Hood," making it darker and more violent. Players can introduce filth, death and pestilence into 'cartoony,' fairytale settings, while causing a chain of events that inflicts destruction and mayhem: hunters can attack each other with axes; birds get crushed in their cages; deer are split in half; and wolf corpses are depicted with their chests cut open. One level takes place in the Big Bad Wolf's stomach as arteries/blood vessels are sliced open, causing 'Cartoony' red blood to churn and shoot out. Aggressive language (e.g., Grandmother calls Red Riding Hood a "lazy slut") is heard on occasion, while a reference to alcohol is included in the darker retelling (e.g., Red's basket includes cakes with wine). In addition, players can urinate – used as a visual aid to jumping – and 'accidentally' hit other characters, who either cry or vomit when 'trickled' upon.
