Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising

Windows PC
Blood and Gore, Violence
Other: Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB (PC)

This is a real-time strategy game and stand-alone expansion that also works in conjunction with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. Players control a unit of space marines that battle an assortment of aliens, robots, monsters, and the Chaos faction (malevolent demons and the humans who joined them). Combat is presented from an overhead perspective: Players' soldiers use machine guns, flamethrowers, mines, lasers turrets, and tanks to kill enemy units. The realistic artillery fire, the battle cries and screams from injured soldiers, the loud explosions all contribute to the Violence descriptor. These elements, combined with the zoomed-in views of blood pools and gushing blood spray account for the Mature rating. And at times, limbs can fly off and units can be reduced to meaty chunks of their former selves (though these depictions are mostly from a top-down view). In one sequence, a giant lumbering monster sucks up soldiers with its stomach—the gaping cavity exposing intestines and alien innards.
