Rating Summary
This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of an Interpol agent (Adam Jensen) trying to uncover the truth behind a terrorist bombing. As players complete mission-based objectives, they use pistols, shotguns, rifles, and cybernetic weaponry to kill human enemies and cybernetically-enhanced soldiers. Players can also use both lethal and non-lethal stealth attacks to incapacitate enemies at close range. Realistic gunfire, large explosions, and blood-splatter effects frequently occur during firefights. Civilians and police officers can also be killed directly, though this may negatively affect players' progress. The game contains sexual material: text/dialogue referencing prostitution (e.g., “Like what you see? You can see it up close for the right price” and “Do not trust the rest of the whores in Prague sweety, stick with the red-light professionals."); women in revealing outfits pole-dancing inside a club; window parlors depicting men and women dancing in their underwear. Some billboards in a red-light district depict topless woman. During the course of the game, alcoholic beverages (e.g., beer, ale, absinthe) can be purchased and consumed, resulting in a screen-blurring effect. A handful of scenes depict drug paraphernalia on a table and dealers selling fictional drugs to customers; text also references drug use (e.g., “If it gets back to Otar you are using, you'll be strung up. . . We can't pollute ourselves like the clanks do”). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the game.
