Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is a tactical role-playing game (RPG) in which players fight to defend a kingdom from an alliance of enemies. Players move their troops along a grid-like map, engaging various enemies. Combat generally takes place between humans but there are occasional battles involving fantasy creatures (e.g., dragon, pegasus). When struck by an attack, the enemy unit briefly lights up indicating damage. In addition to the visual depictions of violence, certain phrases increase the aggressive tone of battle (e.g., "Bring me his head," "Make the Prince suffer," and "stumbling home to the slaughter"). The expletive "hell" is used occasionally in the game.
