This is an action-horror game that retells the story of Dead Rising 2. Players assume the role of news reporter Frank West as he investigates and photographs the cause of a zombie outbreak in the fictional Fortune City. Players use blades, rifles, flamethrowers, chainsaws, and characters' bare hands to kill large hordes of zombies and survivor characters. Players can also use objects in the surrounding environment (e.g., exploding gas tanks, vehicles) and their own constructions (e.g., pitchfork-shotgun combo) to dispatch multiple enemies at once. Red blood-splatter effects occur frequently, and blood sometimes stains the ground and surrounding walls. Zombies often get impaled, dismembered, and decapitated during gameplay; for example, players can run down zombies with a clown cart or slice them in half with a katana blade. Cutscenes also depict instances of gore and intense violence: a man falling onto a spinning saw blade; a character decapitating a zombie with his bare hands. During the course of the game, players' character can wear different costumes; one bikini-like outfit (i.e., Banana Hammock) exposes large portions of his buttocks. Some female characters are also dressed in revealing outfits (e.g., lingerie, showgirl costumes), and players' character can take pictures of them to earn "Erotica" bonus points; other suggestive imagery (e.g., sex toy "massager" item) can also be photographed. In one sequence, players can enter a peep show to receive a “Peeping Tom” bonus. Some missions/challenges require players to make and drink alcoholic beverages (e.g., wine, vodka, beer, whiskey); if players drink too much, their movements become erratic and they vomit. The word “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.
